POLICE IN THE Netherlands have arrested a man who, it is alleged, was trying to extort money from the McCann family.
It is said the man wanted to trade information on the whereabouts of Madeleine in return for part of the large sum of reward money on offer.
Portuguese Polícia Judiciária have been informed of the arrest and the ongoing investigation, but are still waiting for official contact from the Netherland police authorities.
