A 31-year-old former reality show competitor, who was arrested earlier this week for trying to kill his 5-year-old son, has been remanded in preventive custody and ‘protected’ while in jail, due to the ‘code of conduct’ among prisoners against fellow inmates who have committed crimes against children. The man meantime is undergoing psychiatric evaluation and may eventually be transferred to Caxias prison hospital to await the start of his trial. Until then, he spends 22 hours a day in solitary confinement, having an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon for ‘exercise’ outside his cell – again apart from the company of other inmates.
