31-year-old woman shot and killed in Setúbal

Murder “could be related to incidents that took place on Saturday” in same neighbourhood

A 31-year-old woman died after being shot inside a car late last night in Rua Padre José Maria Nunes da Silva, in Bela Vista, Setúbal, police sources have revealed.

According to Setúbal PSP, the woman, who was driving the vehicle, was hit in the head by a shotgun blast.

The case is under the remit of the Portugal’s criminal investigation police agency, the PJ, which has exclusive responsibility for investigating this type of crime.

Contacted by Lusa news agency, a source from the PJ, confirmed that inside the car, as well as the victim who died, there was also a 33-year-old man, who was shot in the arm.

Confronted with the possibility that this murder could be related to incidents that took place on Saturday in the Bela Vista neighbourhood, in which a number of gunshots were also fired, the PJ source stressed the investigation is only just beginning and that all  evidence being collected needs to be analysed.

A comment on Facebook, made today, runs: “And so a young woman dies when she leaves work on her way home, passes the wrong place at the wrong time and, without having anything to do with what is going on, is shot in the head with a shotgun.

We all know who the settling of scores is about, who the people are.

“What makes these situations happen is that in Bela Vista, Setúbal, there are more guns than in an arsenal”.
