54 to play “major role” in ongoing development of Comporta Dunas golf course
Global sports and entertainment agency 54 and Vanguard Properties, owners of Terras da Comporta near Lisbon, have extended the partnership which saw the Comporta Dunas course crowned the world’s best by industry peers.
Nestled in the Terras da Comporta estate on the Alentejo coast, the David McLay-Kidd Comporta Dunas layout burst onto the scene when it scooped the World’s Best New Course at the World Golf Awards in 2023, only to go one better last year when the same body crowned it the best in the world bar none.
54 will play a “major role” in the ongoing development of the course after agreeing a strategic advisory relationship with Vanguard Properties which will include operational budget, capital expenditure plans and customer experience.
The agency’s Strategic Advisory unit will also review and advise on Comporta Dunas’ five-year business plan, long term-strategy and will play a lead role in widening the club’s network of partners and industry stakeholders.
The agreement will also see 54 partner, Turfgrass, take the lead on the course’s agronomy strategy through tailored consultancy, regular course inspections, application of latest research, as well as a range of nutrient, top-dressing, machinery and irrigation programmes.
