The 9th grade final exams in Portugal will be paper-based this year in order to guarantee fairness for all schoolchildren, while assessment tests will continue to be carried out in digital format, the government announced today. In a statement, the ministry of education, science and innovation (MECI) says that the previous government did not provide schools with the necessary conditions to carry out 9th grade national exams in digital format, as was planned. As a result, these exams will be held this year, exceptionally, in paper format. Benchmarking tests, on the other hand, will continue to be held in digital format, “reaffirming the current government’s commitment to the digital transition”.
