Vila Joya Restaurant near Albufeira has been voted among the world’s 50 best restaurants.
Placed 45th on the 2012 list compiled by British Restaurant magazine, the Algarve restaurant is the first Portuguese restaurant to be listed. The first place went to Noma of Denmark, followed by El Celler de Can Roca and the Mugaritz of Spain.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list is compiled by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, a group of more than 800 international leaders in the restaurant industry.
The two Michelin starred Vila Joya is managed by Austrian chef Dieter Koschina, who each January organises the prestigious Vila Joya’s Tribute to Claudia International Gourmet Festival, bringing together some of the world’s finest chefs to prepare an exclusive menu for the event.
