Hear about the Portuguese tax system over breakfast

A Business Breakfast organised by the British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce on February 11 will have Filomena Ramilo, accountant and tax consultant, as guest speaker.

The event, to be held at the Holiday Inn Algarve in Armação de Pêra from 9am to 11.30am, will be an opportunity for business people to hear advice on how to cope with the Portuguese tax system in 2011.

Whether you are an investor, a business owner or self-employed and want personal guidance through the recent changes to Social Security, Green receipts, IVA, and so on, the Chamber says the upcoming business breakfast is a good opportunity to hear advice from a Portuguese expert but in English.

A spokesman for the Chamber said: “It is important for the good functioning of companies that they stay updated and informed. Thus Filomena Ramilo’s advice will prove to be useful in the day-to-day successful running of your business.

“This session will clearly explain your options in order to decide the solution that best suits you. Decisions that every entrepreneur must make.”

The main issues to be discussed will  relate to fiscal changes, how they can affect your business and how you can successfully deal with them. They are:

• Código contributivo: new rules for green receipts and social security

• Legal requirements for internal organisation of companies and individuals

• IRC, Company tax

• IRS, private tax for residents and non residents

• Offshore and Onshore taxes:

• Capital gains taxes

• IMT (former SISA) – cases of exemptions

• IMI (former Contribuição Autárquica) – cases of exemptions

Filomena Ramilo is an accountant and tax consultant from Moneris-Granja, Lda.

Cost per person is €12 and includes English breakfast. To reserve your space, please contact Helena Fernandes, BPCC Events, on phone: (+351) 213 942 020 or Fax: (+351) 213 942 029.
