This became very evident to Gavin and Susan Stevenson-Bennett when they occupied their apartment in Porches through various winter periods.
Gavin said: “The majority of temperatures during the day were fantastic, especially compared to the UK, but it was when the sun went down and we were forced to use the reverse cycle air conditioning to heat the apartment that we realised how much we missed our Scandinavian wood burning stove back in the UK”.
So it was back in 2007, when the couple decided to move to Portugal to live and work, that the continuation with the business model that had proved successful in their UK business was confirmed in their minds, albeit with a concentration on ecologically friendly wood burning heating systems.
The Heat of the Moment was born and rapidly took shape: “Being used to working with the UK’s well-regulated and time tested methods for the installation of such systems, we found the early experiences here in Algarve illuminating to say the least,” said Gavin.
“With our sales, marketing and business development backgrounds we relished the challenge and to date it’s proving to be the right decision, the business is growing steadily with new products and services being added to the portfolio and we enjoy our lives here immensely.”
