Learning a new language

Whether you live in Portugal full-time or are a regular visitor and want to get a grip of the basics, the friendly staff at the Centro de Línguas language school in Lagos are on hand to provide a fun yet effective teaching service.

Being able to speak Portuguese to a certain level can make your time in the Algarve so much more enjoyable, helping you with paperwork, general day to day basics and, most importantly, aiding integration into the wider community.

Maureen McKeeve of the Centro de Línguas explained: “While the idea of learning Portuguese is appealing, often people are put off by the prospect of boring lessons filled with grammar, reminiscent of their school days.

“At the Centro de Línguas, we try to make classes interesting and enjoyable and while some students are eager to learn for business reasons, for others this is also a great way to meet new people.”

The school offers many special discount schemes for students, including a two-for-one offer on private lessons.

“We believe that quality private education does not have to have a huge price tag and we have really competitive rates as well as special offers for existing and new students,” said Maureen McKeeve.

The next 30-lesson beginners course will start on March 14 (six lessons a week) and an intensive 10-day course (three lessons a day) will start on April 18.
