Arquimodem Architects was established in 1990 when appointed as conceptual architects for the prestigious Vila Vita Parc resort at Porches.
Hans J. Schirmacher, owner of Arquimodem Architects, said: “Prior to setting up Arquimodem, I had a successful architectural office in South Africa, where I designed many trend-setting projects and received numerous awards.
“I am a member of the OAP, Portuguese Architects’ Institute, the RIBA (UK) and an honorary member of the Danish Architects’ Institute. My experience ranges from individual homes to cluster houses, group housing, hotels, restaurants and shopping malls.”
Hans J. Schirmacher is currently planning boutique resorts in Carvoeiro and Quinta do Lago and a retirement village in Carvoeiro with 56 apartments on a 4.3 hectares site with extensive sea views. “The apartments are wheelchair-dimensioned and have two en-suite bedrooms, providing for sharing with a friend or accommodating a carer,” he said.
The project includes a reception/administration building, medical suites, a walk-in swimming pool, social-lounge, a restaurant/bar and also a sanctuary. “This sanctuary will provide a private environmental reserve, with an elevated timber walkway that meanders over a lake and between the existing trees, as well a Zen-chapel and a terrace, for those seeking a little quiet contemplation,” said Hans J. Schirmacher.
“Form follows function in my architecture. I create each space, each mass and each relationship, tenderly and carefully. Designs are unique and are not repackaged old ideas. We are committed to our clients and their best interests. We have always been an environmentally-friendly firm, and our buildings reflect this.”
