IT business company Broadband Algarve, established in the region for just over a year, offers a satellite broadband internet service for people who are unable to get broadband via the telephone or mobile systems.
Fast access to the internet is increasingly a necessity. “There is not a business in the country, with any ambition to succeed, that does not have an email address or a website,” said Stephanie Fletcher, owner of Broadband Algarve.
“Yet rural households are currently unable to access the internet at good speeds. The handicap in these places on the individuals and rural businesses, which inhabit these so-called ‘broadband deserts’, is immense.”
She added: “We use the Tooway satellite broadband system, which delivers fast, affordable internet access where other services can’t. It also provides fantastic coverage of the UK and Western Europe and can get you online quickly and easily at broadband speeds, and it’s totally independent of the telephone network.”
Broadband Algarve currently has a promotion on the Tooway system.
“You can be online for as little as 999 Euros. That includes IVA (VAT) and the first three months subscription. The ongoing monthly subscriptions are from 35 Euros plus IVA. We also offer an extra 10 per cent discount for Afpop members.”
