THE CORNISH Range outlet in Burgau, near Lagos, is the perfect place to visit when you’re missing ‘Ol Blighty.
Having been distributing Cornish food products throughout Portugal since April 2006, owner Nicola Archdale opened the restaurant/café in May of last year where a vast range of Cornish pasties and other products from the West Country can be eaten in-house or purchased to take away.
The Cornish Range products have been met with tremendous enthusiasm from both Portuguese and English customers and the story of the project to bring wonderful traditional Cornish food to Portugal caught the attention of the press to an extent that surprised Nicola – with stories having appeared on BBC Cornwall as well as in Portugal magazine.
Mouth-watering
The Cornish Range includes a wide variety of Cornish pasties – traditional Cornish, Steak and Ale, Beef and Stilton, Pork and Apple being just a few. Also featured on the menu are jumbo sausage rolls, jacket potatoes, freshly made soups, whole roasted chickens, sandwiches, chips, cheesy chips and for dessert, mouth-watering fresh cakes and scones served with delicious extra clotted Cornish cream. There is a range of traditional Cornish Roskilly’s ice creams available too.
Nicola has recently re-located to Australia but business continues, with Manager Tracey Donaghy running the café while she is away.
