Bank extends credit to 80 years

MORTGAGE LOANS for Caixa Geral de Depósitos’ customers have been extended to 80 years of age.

The new policy was one of five measures launched by CGD to ease soaring monthly payments for mortgage holders. Before the limit had been 75 years of age.

Another measure announced will allow customers to negotiate a three-year period of interest payment only (carência de capital) whereby customers in financial difficulties paying their mortgages can just pay the interest and not the capital on their loans.

Up until now this facility was only available for customers aged 35 years or under, but now will be extended to all customers subject to negotiations and individual circumstances.
