SUNRAY VILLAGE, a property development near Almancil, has been recognised by the European Property Awards association as the Best European Development of 2008 and has also won the award for Best Architecture 2008.
The European Property Awards, in association with CNBC Television and SIMA (the Madrid International Real Estate Fair), have given the prestigious awards to the development that comprises 52 two and three bedroom townhouses and villas.
Artur Simes, the managing director of Atlantic Estates, the property agent for the development, said: “I am delighted Sunray Village has received this much deserved recognition. I am proud to be associated with this extraordinary effort in creating a modern new living environment in the heart of the Algarve.”
The distinctive design of Sunray Village by Vilamoura-based architect Vasco Vieira of Arqui+ combines traditional Portuguese materials of stone and wood with striking modern elements of glass and large glazed surfaces to create a strong architectural impression.
“This award is not only a recommendation by our peers that Sunray Village is a fine development, but is also a significant recognition that Portugal is a leader in innovative style and modern living,” said Greg Boegner, marketing executive for Atlantic Estates. Sunray Village is currently under construction and is due for completion in late 2009.
Lagoa agency
Another winner from the Algarve was Exclusive Algarve Villas. The Lagoa based real estate agency has won an award in the category of Best Real Estate Portugal.
Bart van Linden, director of Exclusive Living International group, said: “The fact we have won an international property award is a crown on the hard work put in by our team. We are proud to belong to the elite of luxury estate agents in the Algarve.”
Entries for the awards were judged by a panel of professionals from the property industry. The judges were chaired for the ninth consecutive year by Eric Pickles, British Shadow Secretary of State and included Phil Spencer, property expert and presenter of Channel 4’s Location and Relocation TV shows and Peter Bolton King, the chief executive of the National Association of Estate Agents.
The awards will presented at a gala dinner to be held at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel in London on September 27.
