ECONOMY Minister Manuel Pinho officially inaugurated the Dunas Douradas Beach Club resort, considered to be the largest Norwegian investment in Portugal, in Almancil, on September 28.
Owned by Norwegian real estate company Linstow AS and the Anders Wilhelmsen Group, Dunas Douradas Beach Club includes 132 apartments and eight villas, all in a beach front location between the Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago developments.
The new resort also offers a range of facilities such as a fully equipped fitness club, free WiFi throughout the grounds, two restaurants, two bars, three outdoor and one indoor swimming pools.
A spa offering a variety of beauty treatments and massages is also due to open at the end of the year.
After more than two decades of development, Dunas Douradas officially opened with a themed inauguration party, representing the four elements.
Among the guests at the inauguration were the President of Loulé Câmara, Seruca Emídio, the President of Almancil parish council, João Martins, and the Social Democratic MP for the Algarve, Dr. Mendes Bota.
Important investment
Manuel Pinho said that this resort, which represents a co-operation between Loulé Câmara and Norwegian companies, is an important and high quality investment for the Algarve.
During the opening party, guests were transported back to pre-Greek times as they were welcomed by golden centaurs and entertained by flame throwers, trapeze artists, dancers and water nymphs during the Elements show.
Later in the evening, guests were treated to a show which combined a range of cultures, from Celtic dancing and bag pipes to Fado, with Portuguese singer Mafalda Arnault, and a performance by Norwegian tenor Eli Hagen.
