Oyster bar in the Algarve

PORTUGAL’S FIRST oyster restaurant/bar has opened near the Ria Formosa in Tavira offering customers the chance to try innovative recipes.

Pérolas a Porcos provides fresh oysters farmed on the Ria Formosa for customers to try as part of an alternative experience in the Algarve combining ecological education and quality food.

The philosophy of the restaurant is to “democratise the consumption of oysters” and offer an opportunity for everyone to be able to sample the shellfish in a relaxed environment.

The restaurant is designed to mirror the surroundings and the ecology of the river.  Anthony Quina from the restaurant said: “The oyster bar is intended as a reflection of the whole environment surrounding the river.  This area is a paradise in the Algarve and is far removed from the strong growth in real estate in other areas of the region.”

Pérolas a Porcos is located in the gardens of the Albacora Vila Galé hotel in Tavira and is open daily from 5pm until 11pm.
