SUE JOYCE has been a well known and respected figure in and around Carvoeiro for more than 32 years, where she rented and managed villas for the top end of the market.
It is through the close contact and responsibility she has for her customers’ care and safety that the idea for a range of poolside and terrace plastic glasses first germinated. EU rules concerning the safety aspect of glass around public areas where there was a likelihood of bare feet and children playing convinced her she was on the right track.
Discussing the situation with close friend and colleague Vikki Buckley, Sue suggested they develop a range of products, known as Alfresco Plastics. Using Vikki’s expertise in the manufacturing field, the result is high quality plastic wine glasses, tumblers, tankards and fridge door jugs.
Shatterproof
Sue and Vikki have already visited a wide variety of customers throughout the Algarve who have all shown a very keen interest in the products.
In fact, initially, many of the people who were shown the range found it hard to believe that they were plastic as they do look very much like glass.
The main criteria are that they are shatterproof and therefore safe to use in critical areas around pools and poolside restaurants.
The glasses are dishwasher proof although it is advised not to use the high heat one would use for cleaning heavily soiled plates and saucepans.
Sue and Vikki hope their clients enjoy using the glasses knowing that their loved ones are safe.
