Refurbished hotel

QUINTA DO Serrado, a hotel on Porto Santo island in Madeira, which was bought and refurbished by a Portuguese businessman in February, has re-opened to the public.

This new four-star hotel, once a guest house, was bought by Manuel Santos, an Algarve businessman who owns the Loulé-based real estate company, SIM-Promoção Imobiliária (Santos & Ilda Martins Lda), which also has offices in Almancil.

The hotel now has 22 bedrooms, each with its own veranda, bathroom, air conditioning, cable television, telephone and safe, among other facilities.

Two of the rooms are suites which also include a mini bar, flat screen television and DVD player.

Hotel Quinta do Serrado has a swimming pool and a restaurant with a dining room for 40 guests, an outdoor eating area which caters for the same amount of people and a separate dining room which caters for up to 20 smokers.

Although the hotel is in the countryside, guests will be provided with transport into Porto Santo and the beach areas.

Madeira leader

Alberto João Jardim, President of Madeira’s autonomous regional government, who visited the hotel during its inauguration on August 23, said: “This hotel offers a challenge to others in Porto Santo because it is different.”

Porto Santo Câmara President Roberto Silva was also present at the hotel’s inauguration and said that the municipal services welcomed the investment and were keen to assist with the project’s administrative and bureaucratic matters.
