FORTALEZA DA Luz is one of Luz’s most revered restaurants. Its vaulted candle lit interior has been a favourite with residents and visitors for the last 30 years. Today, the restaurant can be prouder than ever, with its revamped sea view esplanada.
The outdoor area has become a real asset to the building and has been transformed. Stylish furniture from Moveison has replaced the old plastic tables and chairs, and traditional calçada paving has been created with a new lawn.
Owner Luc St John Webb said: “We were having terrible problems with the parasols. We have terribly strong winds here and they were flying off the Ocean terrace and landing on the beach below”. They decided to choose Oz Shades, as they were the only solution that were stylish and that could withstand high winds, according to staff at Fortaleza da Luz who added: “The spectacular shades have attracted customers onto the esplanada during the day. They light up at night and provide wonderfully diffused light. The sails are coherent for the historic Fort”.
They create a covering that does not interrupt the views of the sky, ocean and coast. The shades were also chosen because they are well made and guaranteed for 10 years, according to Fortaleza da Luz staff.
Every Sunday there is a Jazz Lunch in the exotic gardens of Fortaleza da Luz, which has proved very popular. The best tables are located outside, so it is advisable to book early.
