No interview for now

AFTER WHAT can only be described as a gruelling ordeal with the police and what is considered to be a trial by some newspapers, Robert Murat remains the only prime suspect on the investigations over the Madeleine McCann disappearance.

The Resident spoke to Mr Murat on Wednesday, June 6, in the hope that an interview could be arranged. However, Mr Murat quoted the Segredo de Justiça restrictions and stated: “I have not given any interview to any news source, newspaper or television. I will not give an interview until such time as this case has been resolved or my name has been cleared”. Robert Murat went on to say: “I look forward to being able to walk out of my gate without hearing the clicking of cameras and receiving strange looks.”

While sounding emotional, Murat’s tone was generally upbeat advising us that he looks forward to having a coffee in the coffee shop in Baptista – the supermarket just a couple of hundred meters from the apartment from which Madeleine went missing.

It is now 45 days since Madeleine McCann disappeared from the holiday apartment where she and her family were staying in Praia da Luz. The police, still tight-lipped, are reportedly checking each and every lead passed to them.
