ANTÓNIO PINA, former Faro Civil Governor, is the new president of Região de Turismo do Algarve (RTA), the Regional Tourism Board.
The RTA elections took place on Tuesday, June 5, and, as the only candidate running for the presidency, António Pina, was a natural winner with a total of 24 votes, seven against and one blank vote. He took office the next day in a ceremony presided over by the Portuguese Secretary of State for Tourism, Bernardo Trindade.
António Pina’s team includes such names as António Pires, president of the Associação do Sotavento Algarvio, Nuno Aires, administrator of Central de Notícias do Algarve, owner of Observatório do Algarve, an online newspaper about the region, and Maria Helena Mak, CEO of Associação Algarve Golf.
