A WOMAN in India refused to let her fiancé be cremated at the weekend – until she was married to him.
He had fallen down a well soon after they became engaged and, in spite of his death, the distraught 22-year-old woman wanted to marry him. The corpse was sat up by a fire, which is the traditional centre of Hindu wedding ceremonies and marriage prayers were chanted minutes before he was cremated. The bride’s parents were against the union, but were present to support her and offer traditional Hindu wedding gifts.
