WORK TO upgrade the basic sanitation infrastructures and water supply network has begun in Rua do Comércio, Portimão’s main shopping thoroughfare.
The work, which is being carried out by Portimão Câmara and the Empresa Municipal de Águas e Resíduos (EMARP), the municipal company responsible for waste and water, also extends to Rua do Carvalho. These improvements complement the work carried out in recent years in the town centre, which included the remodelling of the basic sanitation infrastructures of various streets.
It is estimated that the work will cost the council around 200,000 euros and, as well as the basic sanitation improvements, the street’s pavements will be replaced, new benches and waste bins introduced, along with flower troughs and pillars.
Rua da Hortinha, which has also been the subject of refurbishment works recently, is due to reopen shortly.
