Saints alive – By SKIP BANDELE
Scrum half Sean Long became the first player in the history of the Powergen Challenge Cup to win the coveted Lance Todd trophy for a third time, as St Helens recovered from an early deficit, to slaughter Huddersfield 42-12.
A second half try fest saw the favourites run riot in their 19th final, their sixth in the 11 seasons in the Super League. Underdogs Huddersfield last beat St Helens in 1953 for the last of their six cup triumphs, when proving 15-10 too good for the currently dominant force in rugby league.
