WE WOKE up to rain and grey skies, but that did not deter the Christmas Day swimmers.
More than 30 adults and children participated in the Christmas Day ‘Swim for Shoes’ initiative on the beach of Armação de Pêra, raising more than 600 euros to buy new shoes for children in need in Albufeira. The sea was surprisingly warm and, as one swimmer said, “very exhilarating”! Certificates were awarded to those who got wet and everyone enjoyed a welcome glass of mulled wine in the Hotel Garbe afterwards.
