Top Portuguese golfer Ricardo Santos teed off in the PGA European Tour €5 million Turkish Airlines Open in Antalya yesterday (Thursday) hoping to clinch his place at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai next week.
The 30-year-old Victoria Golf Club representative from Faro has endured mixed results of late, and needs a top 10 finish in this inaugural tournament on the Montgomerie Maxx Royal Course to improve on his current 63rd place in the ‘Race to Dubai’ standings in order to make the 60-man field on November 14.
The Algarvean will have to be back to his very best, however, with the likes of Tiger Woods, European money list first and third Henrik Stenson and Justin Rose, as well as course architect Colin Montgomerie himself, Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel and Lee Westwood all vying for top honours.
