Portimonense ended Marítimo B’s unbeaten home record with a 1-0 success in Funchal on Sunday afternoon.
The Madeira eleven featuring several first team players were unable to find a way past outstanding Portimao keeper Márcio Ramos following a sixth minute Kanazaki free-kick which caught home keeper Wellington by surprise and proved decisive in securing all three points.
The Algarveans’ fourth away victory of the current season lifts them into clear second place in the table, only one point behind Moreirense who could only draw, ahead of this Sunday’s home match against fifth-placed Sporting Covilhã.
The Maritimo game was also manager Lázaro Oliveira’s 72nd in charge of the club, a record previously only bettered by Amilcar Fonseca in professional competitions.
Meanwhile Farense appear fully recovered from their disastrous start to second division life following an expressive 4-0 win over Oliveirense which sees the club from the Algarve capital sitting comfortably in 15th place, eight points clear of relegation, prior to up-coming clashes with Porto and Sporting B.
