Vila do Bispo Câmara has announced that it has opened public tenders for a new street lighting system in the urban areas of Budens, Burgau, Figueira, Salema and Vale de Boi. A spokesman from the local authority predicted that there would be a considerable energy saving once the current system has been overhauled. Aside from this, the câmara spokesman said that the new system will mean “improved efficiency and longer lasting lighting, with a subsequent drop in maintenance costs”. The cost of replacing the old streetlights has been estimated at 106,867 euros and will take 45 days.
