WithRui and Mário (father and son) running Escondidinho beach bar in Praia Grande, Ferragudo, and mother and daughter team Diane and Samantha now in the newly-opened Fantasia Gift Shop, the Alves family has been looking after the residents and visitors of the picturesque fishermen’s village for more than 25 years.
Having lived in the area and being au fait with both the British and Portuguese markets, they noticed a gap in the market and decided to embark upon the exciting new venture of opening a gift shop.
It has taken Diane and Samantha more than a year to find the right premises, combat the usual bureaucratic issues, visit trade fairs and exhibitions, meet suppliers and hand pick the items that they have placedfor sale in the Fantasia Gift Shop.
You will find the shop in the centre of Ferragudo, opposite Banif Bank by the riverbank. The bright and airy shop is surrounded with natural light and is a great canvas to display the lovely selection of unusual gifts.
Being very conscious of people’s varying budgets, they have managed to put together a range which offers something for everyone. From games (both fun and educational), lovely fragrant bath gift sets, individual small furniture pieces such as occasional tables and wine racks, bespoke mosaic mirrors, a selection of lamps, Hilary Cunningham original paintings to fun signs and handmade fairies, you will be hard pushed to leave empty-handed.
