Porto “playboy” student faces sex abuse charges in America

He is described as “a good student” who loves parties – but Francisco Paiva Sousa, 20, is now on 100,000 dollar bail in the US for allegedly forcing a fellow student to perform oral sex on him, after shutting her into a bathroom. The incident is understood to have happened last weekend during a party hosted by students at California’s San Diego University.
“We have exhaustively investigated the allegations and at 2.15 pm on Tuesday we detained pupil Francisco Paiva Sousa for the crimes of kidnapping and forced oral sex,” a police source told Portuguese journalists.
Sousa appeared in court where he was freed on bail, equivalent to €80,700.
“The amount was guaranteed on Wednesday through a bail agent,” said the police source.
Sousa is understood to be in his second year of Marketing and Business Studies in a city that is known for its high number of Portuguese immigrants.
According to newspapers, he is known as an intelligent student, who gets good marks, but his love of parties, girls and a good time “has already brought him a few problems”.
“He is not always welcome by the girls,” a female student is quoted as telling Correio da Manhã.
Sousa is due to return to court on December 18. If found guilty, he faces a maximum of eight years in jail and the further disgrace of having his name listed on the national register of sexual aggressors.
