A GNR sergeant went on trial this week charged with attempting to strangle a subordinate officer as a result of an altercation over the changing of a patrol car tyre. Domingos Godinho, former GNR commander at Costa da Caparica, is understood to have become exasperated with Nelson Beijinha because the younger man was watching television when his superior wanted him to change the tyre. Beijinha went on sick leave after the incident, the court heard.
