Lee Casciaro wrote his name into the history book of Gibraltar football when he scored their first ever internationally recognised competitive goal.
The magical moment came in the twentieth minute of their European qualifier against Scotland at Hampden Park. Casciaro, a policeman normally keeping law-and-order on the Rock, latched onto a through ball from Aaron Payas and beat keeper Marshall to level the score at 1-1.
Scotland spent ten minutes at home tied with the British Overseas territory of just 30,000 people.
In the end the home side ran out comfortable 6-1 victors with a hat-trick from Steven Fletcher, two penalties from Shaun Maloney and a goal from Steven Naismith. Gibraltar, who play their home games at the Algarve Stadium (Faro), are next in action on the 13th June when world champions Germany are the opponents at the Algarve Stadium.
