Two fishermen with lightning reactions rushed to the rescue of a 51-year-old woman as she got into difficulties during an early morning swim on Pedrinhas beach, in Fão, Esposende, on Tuesday morning. The men dragged the woman to safety and then alerted rescue services. The victim, conscious throughout the ordeal, was later taken to hospital. The incident took place before beachgoers had arrived for the day.
