Santa parade marks start of festive season

Armação de Pêra is preparing for another Santa invasion to mark the start of the festive season. The 4th Father Christmas Parade is taking place on Saturday, December 5, starting from the Holiday Inn Algarve at 10am. It will be an opportunity to take a healthy walk while helping to raise food and funds for the local needy.

The event, which is open to all ages, will commence with warm up exercises provided by Angelo of the UrbanGym and a Zumba class.

Participants, all asked to come dressed in Santa outfits, can choose one of two options – the Santa Parade through the streets of Armação de Pêra accompanied by the Percutunes drum group, or the festive bike ride of about 20km led by BTT Algarve Maniacs group.

Registration is free but organisers ask participants to bring food items (rice, pasta, olive oil, milk, canned food, etc) as a donation, which will be given to the town’s Espaço Amigo association assisting local families in need.

The parade is organised by the local parish council, Portugal4U, BTT Algarve Maniacs, Urban Gym and the Holiday Inn Algarve.
