An Algarve top sommelier will be joining forces with other sommeliers and chefs in restaurants across Portugal and aboard in a new initiative by the Conrad hotel in Quinta do Lago.
“Wine in Motion by António Lopes” will see the head sommelier at the hotel’s signature restaurant Gusto by Heinz Beck travelling to places such as Lousã, Lisbon or London to pair his choice of Portuguese wines with some of the culinary creations served by the different chefs he meets along the way. He will also exchange knowledge and experience of his favourite Portuguese wines with other sommeliers.
António Lopes will be at Hotel Palácio da Lousã on November 25, at Estrela da Mó in Vila Nova de Poiares on November 26, at London’s Conrad St. James on December 9, at Lisbon’s Restaurante 100 Maneiras on December 10 and at Restaurante L’and in Montemor-o-Novo on December 11.
The tour will end with a special dinner at Gusto by Heinz Beck in December (date yet to be confirmed).
António Lopes was named Sommelier of the Year 2014 by Revista Wine and was invited to represent Portugal at the Taste Portugal London event which took place in England.
