Among tweaks to the PS government’s controversial State Budget is the proposal to tax the “more polluting petrol cars” in favour of those with less emissions, writes Correio da Manhã. “In practice”, the move will mean “the majority of models pay more”. This is likely to drive up the prices of new cars. The government’s reasoning – based on environmental sustainability – is not convincing the automobile sector, adds the paper.
