Experiencing what it was like to live in medieval times is what visitors to Castro Marim’s ‘Dias Medievais’ can expect – this is the town’s biggest summer event and one of the highlights of the eastern Algarve’s August agenda.
Having started on Wednesday and running until Sunday (August 22-26), the event is famous for its colourful street entertainment, medieval tournaments on horseback, exhibitions of arts and crafts, and even a ‘royal medieval banquet’.
Visitors can also explore dozens of stalls selling a variety of Medieval-themed products, see a display of instruments of torture and more.
Ticket prices range from €3 to €35, depending on which parts of the fair you want to access (the street fair, the castle, or both) and whether you want to take part in the medieval banquet.
Castro Marim residents can enter for free, needing only to pick up their bracelet from the Gabinete de Apoio ao Munícipe (GAM), the parish council or the Castro Marim Consigo service.
The event begins at 6pm every day and comes to a close at midnight.
