Local concern over the actions of 31-year-old Valter Macário has reached fever pitch on Culatra Island.
The man, who lives on the island, has been arrested several times for violent crimes and has been hospitalised four times to receive psychiatric treatment although he is always released shortly after.
However, Correio da Manhã tabloid reports that almost every day new complaints are made by locals and tourists, who fear something “tragic may happen” soon if nothing is done.
