‘Street Cat Named Bob’ coming to Portugal in November

He is one of the world’s most famous ginger cats and will be coming to Portugal with his owner James Bowen in November to promote their latest book, ‘The Little Book of Bob’.

The visit is being organised by Portuguese publisher Porto Editora, which says it will reveal more information on the exact date and the location of their visit soon.

James Bowen and Bob became an international sensation when Bowen wrote his first memoir ‘A Street Cat Named Bob’ in 2012, telling the heart-warming story of how Bob came into his life and helped him overcome his drug addiction and rebuild his life.

He also wrote ‘The World According to Bob’ and ‘A Gift from Bob’ with the help of author Garry Jenkins, which, like the first book, became international best-sellers. A movie based on the first two books was released in 2016.

The latest book, which will be released on November 1, will focus on the life lessons learned from a “street-wise cat”.

“One thing I’ve known about Bob from the very beginning is that he possesses a wisdom that is unusual, even in cats. In the decade since we met, he’s grown even wiser in my eyes. This book is a collection of the insights I’ve gained during my years with Bob,” says Bowen.

Apart from writing, Bowen spends his time helping numerous charities that deal with homelessness, literacy, and animal welfare.
