Bono “should be back in full voice for Portugal gig”

After disappointing a packed house of German fans due to the “complete loss” of his voice on stage last Saturday, U2 singer Bono has said it’s all in the past.

His voice will be back for the rest of the Experience + Innocence European tour, and that means the gig at Lisbon’s Altice Arena is ‘on’.

Promoters have stressed that there is no cause at all for concern: the show will be going ahead at over September 16 – 17 as planned.

Bono’s voice problem this time appears to have been caused by the smoke coming from special effects machinery in Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Arena.

In 2010 the 58-year-old singer had a similar issue during a concert U2 gave in Coimbra, reports tabloid Correio da Manhã.

On that occasion, he “drank some water and continued with his performance, without anyone being aware of what happened”, says the paper.
