Charity fashion show for Algarve causes

Around 100 people attended a fashion show in Almancil last Saturday to raise funds for worthy causes in the Algarve.

The Florentinta Charity Fashion Show took place at Bijou Restaurant where 10 glamourous models strutted their stuff to showcase a selection of clothes available from Florentinta. A total of €2,000 was raised in aid of the Rotary Club Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) and the Goldra Dog Sanctuary.

Last year, RCEPI helped with the purchase of a caravan unit for the Algarve Oncology Association (AOA), which was then fully equipped with state-of-the-art breast screening equipment and is now providing mobile screening throughout the Algarve.

This year, the Club joined forces with Wolf Valley Charity to purchase another van for the AOA. This time the mobile unit will be equipped with lung and skin cancer testing machines. RCEPI will be helping to purchase the skin cancer equipment for the association.

The Goldra Dog Sanctuary is run by Jan Henderson and her dedicated team of volunteers, and depends totally on donations. The sanctuary currently has 83 dogs and various puppies in their care.

The Home Centre in Almancil is a new venture for Florentinta and the existing Crown Paint Centre. Florentinta have established themselves over the last 18 months as the place for Frenchic Chalk Paint. Now added to the offer are other paint products to transform furniture, Kylie Minogue Bedding, Jonny Javelin Greetings Cards, new and upcycled furniture, and ladies’ fashions.
