Two men died what one neighbour has described as “a horrible death” in a winepress in Oliveira do Bairro on Monday.
Sulphuric fumes from a product used in the fermentation process got the better of them after one slipped into the press and the other tried to rescue him.
The neighbour who tried to help both men has told authorities he was beaten back by the fumes.
