Social media went into uproar on Sunday after graphic images of an 18-month-old baby with a badly bruised face were uploaded onto the web.
The child had apparently received his injuries during an hour spent with his mother’s new boyfriend in Vila Franca de Xira.
PSP police are investigating.
The boyfriend has not been arrested. He claimed the child caused the injuries to himself on the bars of his cot.
Say reports, this is not an account that anyone believes – but a magistrate who considered the case said there were not enough details, yet, for police to make an arrest.
