Olhão has become the latest town in the Algarve to move forward with plans to install CCTV surveillance cameras.
The local council is due to invest over €60,000 to install 26 cameras along the 5 de Outubro and República avenues and Rua do Comércio by this summer.
The plan is to eventually set up more cameras in the historic centre.
