A routine GNR police operation to encourage landowners to clear the land around their house turned into a drug bust in a rural area of Vila do Bispo on Monday.
GNR agents noticed that nine large cannabis plants had been placed in vases in the garden of one of the houses they visited.
A 32-year-old Belgian man was named a suspect after admitting that the plants were his, even though he is not the owner of the house.
