Two āsmart compactorsā are being installed in Quarteira near the bus terminal and the intersection at Rua Vasco da Gama and Avenida Dr Carlos Mota Pinto.
According to LoulƩ council, these solar-powered compactors make the waste collection process 85% more efficient.
Due to its compacting ability, it has eight times the capacity of a normal bin. It also boasts an electronical system which informs the municipal waste collection authority when it is almost full.
