Traumatised cat owner threatens hunger strike unless airline finds his pet

A traumatised cat owner is threatening hunger strike unless the airline that was meant to have transported her from Lisbon to the Azores discovers her whereabouts.

Six-year-old Ayhuasca was packed into her transport box, as was Pedro Medeiros’ other cat – Kiki – packed into hers.

They both ostensibly left Lisbon airport on a SATA flight on Friday, while Pedro followed on a ‘cheaper’ Ryanair flight.

As reports explain, Pedro chose the SATA flight for his cats as Ryanair does not transport pets.

“When I got to the cargo terminal to collect my cats, I first received the documents for two cats, as I expected, but then… only one cat came through. They had lost the other one”, he wrote in horror over social media.

This story is rapidly gaining traction as well-wishers share their own experiences with SATA’s pet transport – some suggesting Ayhuasca will be found safe and well, others fearing the worst.

To be fair, fault may not even lie with SATA, say others. It could be an issue with cargo packers on the ground in Lisbon.

Whatever the case, Pedro Medeiros clearly feels no one cares.

Today he is back in Lisbon, looking for his beloved pet and vowing that if he doesn’t get answers, he will be going on a high-profile hunger strike at Lisbon airport to force all entities involved to take notice.

Confusingly, over Facebook, Pedro is being described as Ricardo Silva – but the cat remains the same, and she is still lost, while Kiki apparently is refusing to eat and ‘just miaows’ for her absent friend.
