Boeing Employees Choir to perform in Faro in September

They are employees of the Boeing aerospace company but are also part of a highly-respected choir that will be performing at the Sé Cathedral in Faro on Wednesday, September 4.

The Boeing Employees Choir is a choir from Seattle, USA, that has been “singing for its friends” for over 75 years.

“Through our music, we touch people and share their hopes and dreams and continue to evolve. We aim to be an exceptional choir group, reflecting the world-class standards that Boeing has for its products,” the choir says.

The concert in Faro will be led by maestro David Chrysler and will be accompanied by pianist Amy Boers.

“Our repertoire includes everything from Bach to Broadway, and each concert features a selection of pieces from timeless classic composers as well as Americana and Folk,” says the choir.

The choir is made up of Boeing employees, pensioners and family members who are selected after a round of auditions. The Boeing Employees Choir performs over 15 times a year and has already embarked on seven world tours, performing in Australia, New Zealand, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland and Scotland. For the first time, the group will be performing in Spain and Portugal in 2019.

The choir is also involved in many charity initiatives, often donating part of the proceeds from its concerts to institutions of its choice. In 1998, the choir recorded a song for a 14-year-old who was fighting cancer.

“No matter where we find our friends, in small retirement homes or in big cathedrals, we are proud to represent Seattle, the Pacific Northeast, the USA and the Boeing Company,” says the choir.

The concert at the Sé Cathedral in Faro will begin at 7pm. Admission is free.
