A 37-year-old man died after he lost control of his motorbike and crashed into a traffic sign in Almancil on Sunday night (August 18).
Daniel Fernandes had been at the anniversary party of the bikers’ group Golfinhos da Estrada in Almancil and was driving home to Albufeira with friends when the accident occurred.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by GNR police.
Carlos Sacramento, president of the Associação de Motociclistas Vagabundos Lusitanos and one of the bikers who was driving in front of Daniel, told Correio da Manhã that the accident may have been caused by the poor visibility of a speed bump that they had just driven past.
He also claimed that they weren’t driving “very fast” as they had just passed a pedestrian crossing and had to slow down. Daniel lived in Albufeira and was “liked by all”.
