Initial response to the Algarve’s ‘2019 Back to School Appeal’ has surpassed organisers’ expectations. Local charities ACCA and Castelo de Sonhos are hoping to help more than 800 needy children this year with their school supplies, and thank those who have contributed thus far.
A “big thank you” to Ricky Dee of The Charity Van: Arm in Arm Messines, to CASA the Social Club and to Algarve Art Society who have already made generous donations to the appeal.
Thank you also to all the drop-off points. With the help of their customers, the teams at Iceland in Almancil, Guia, Galé and Portimão have already made a start on their collections.

And special thanks, as always, to Gary and Sylvia King of The Golf Shack who are not only a drop-off point but have, once again, added their support to the appeal on a non-profit basis and are offering to supply good quality backpacks and gym bags at a price of €5 each set of backpack and gym bag. ACCA and Castelo de Sonhos are aiming to better last year’s total of 850 backpacks given out to needy children, but they really need your help to make this happen. “Your generosity will play a part in helping these children make the best of their education,” say organisers.
